Are you tired of beauty product hype? Depressed that beauty companies seem to think you’re
stupid enough to believe any one product could be the fountain of youth?
The Cosmedicine Protest Beauty BS Video Contest is your opportunity to talk back to the beauty industry and tell them you’re tired of misleading advertising. Even better, you’ll have a shot at $5,000 cash prize!
Pick up a camera and create a video spoofing misleading beauty advertising for your chance to win. Videos will be voted on and the winner will be selected from among the videos with the most votes.
The contest begins August 4 and entries must be submitted by September 14. Voting starts August 4 and continues through September 26.

Contest Overview
Who is eligible to enter?
To be eligible, you must be 18 years old or older and located in the U.S.
What do I enter?
You must enter a video that spoofs an unrealistic or misleading beauty advertisement. The video must be 2 to 5 minutes in length to be eligible. In addition, eligible videos cannot use the trademarks, copyrights, logos or brand names of other products. But there are plenty of ways to parody ridiculous beauty advertisements without referring to a specific brand or product!
How do I enter?
The entry process is simple and self-explanatory. It will guide you through entering your information and uploading your video entry. At the end of the process, you will be able to select a Cosmedicine 3 piece kit in the skin type of your choice to be shipped to you free as a complimentary gift for entering.
Entered videos can be viewed on the Cosmedicine web site or the Cosmedicine Protest Beauty BS page on YouTube.
When does the Protest Beauty BS Video Contest begin?
Video entries can be submitted from 12:00 am EST Tuesday, August 4, 2009 until 11:59 pm EST Monday, September 14, 2009. All entries must be submitted during this time to be eligible. Entries submitted before or after these dates will not be considered.
How do I vote on my favorite video?
Voting is an important part of the process. The winning video will be selected from the top vote-getting videos, so your vote counts!
Voting begins 12:00 am EST Tuesday, August 4, 2009 and will continue until 11:59 pm EST on Saturday, September 26, 2009.
Entries will be eligible for voting as soon as they are posted.
Once the contest begins, you can go to dedicated Cosmedicine Protest Beauty BS page on YouTube to see all the entered videos. To vote, simply click on the bar of stars underneath the video.
You can vote more than once for your favorite video. We will count the total number of votes for each video to determine the finalists.
You can also leave a comment about a video by clicking on the link “Post a Text Comment”, located on the right hand side of the page.
What do the winners get?
- The first place winner will receive a Grand Prize of $5000 paid by check.
- The top ten finalists will receive a year’s supply of Cosmedicine products (retail value of $1014). Products will be chosen at Sponsor’s discretion.
- Limit one prize per person.
- All eligible entrants receive a free three-piece starter kit of Cosmedicine products (retail value $39).
What are the judging criteria?
The top 11 entries will be determined by voting, i.e. the videos that get the most votes. The finalist entries will then be judged by Cosmedicine based on originality and creativity (40%) and appropriateness to the theme of the contest (60%).
When will the winners be announced?
The grand prize winner and top ten finalists will be notified on or about October 6, 2009.
